Notes from Haley Studio

My First Craft Show

Saturday I vended at a craft supply sale. One of the great things about doing a craft sale with local artists: you get to meet them and see their cool stuff.
One of the NOT so great things… you buy their stuff.

So, net gain: $6 cash for 6 hours of my time. I bought some nice cotton weaving yarn, some black wooly yarn to ply with my handspun (it makes the colors just pop), some cotton fabric to turn into matzo covers (coming to Etsy soon), and some free canvas-covered boards, yarn and fabric. And I got a few things done, like cutting out more yarn tags and finishing the new I-Cord ties for my hat.

A few people took my business cards and will check out my Etsy site. I met a woman with the same loom as me; she will give me some tips!

Also I got the scoop on the new fiber arts store opening near Lazy Jane’s on Williamson St. — it’ll be mostly apparel, but the owner might be interested in carrying my yarn.

All in all, a nice day, but no way to make a living.

Other than not making a lot of $$ and not bringing real food to eat, it went great — it was really nice to meet the other artists and talk to the people around me. The visitors were nice too, there just weren’t that many of them.
